Alexander McQueen’s death in February this year was a huge shock in the fashion world and since his untimely death, a number of new projects have been unveiled in his honour and we are sure that there will be more to come.
In the mean time, McQueen’s final pieces are being snapped up by fashion collectors, including these combat training pants from his collaboration with the legendary German apparel brand Puma.
(We also have a bit of Alexander McQueen x Puma shoes -- only limited pairs available. OK, sorry, sidenote over.)
These Alexander McQueen x Puma pants are from the outstanding first-ever --and tragically also one of the last-- collections that the designer personally laid hands on. Unexpected and unique, Alexander McQueen’s designs for Puma have always defined a provocative new horizon in sport-fashion. Here, the seasonal theme of ‘power’ and ‘martial arts’ (a sport with -what else- power at its essence) is clearly referenced in terms of the style, colour and material applications, resulting in a boldly modern twist on traditional training pants. In fact --accented with cool contrast paneling and tapered ankles-- these pants seem almost too nice to sweat in. One thing’s for sure: put these on, and your workout will never look so good.
The epic mood of the McQueen x Puma collection is matched by a brief promotional film entitled ‘Ghost’, in which fighters display the fierce elegance of sparring athletes as they attack one another attired in McQueen x Puma garbs.
