VANESSA BRUNO Asymmetric Pleat Dress

Throughout the runways for 2009, asymmetry & draping have been a major message. French designer Vanessa Bruno interprets both the concepts in this chic sheath that feels very artful yet clean & modern. A soft contrast leather panel & off-centre pleats across the lower silhouette further create unexpected linear interest.
Team it with flat gladiator sandals, strappy heeled shoes or some exotic statement jewellery, & you have yourself a sure hit!

design tshirts store GRANIPH

Ever since the tees first arrived 2 weeks ago (although we've only got a dozen or so!), we've had curious folks asking us "What is Graniph?".
Established in the late 90s by 3 graphic designers intent on bringing Western-style designer T-shirts to Japan, Graniph is all about the super-fresh tee: limited edition T-shirts designed by graphic artists, illustrators, photographers & other enterprises from around the world, & sold to you at very reasonable prices.
The first Graniph store opened in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo in 2001. Today there are multiple Graniph stores throughout Asia (selling stuff other than tees, too), in Dubai, & Australia. Talks are ongoing to develope storefronts in the USA & Europe.
Graniph also runs an annual global design compatition open to everyone & anyone -- the third & most recent one just ended on 28 Feb -- to uncover new talents & ultimately introduce them to the world via T-shirt art. (The two competitions prior reportedly attracted 30,000 entries from around the globe.)
If you're still wondering about the "reasonable prices" thing -- it's for serious. Come see for yourself ;)

3.1 Phillip Lim Sleeveless Gathered Dress

Surely there's something to be said about a design if a designer revisits it. First seen in the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection over 2 years back, this simple yet chic sleeveless V-neck dress cut with an empire waist & gathers returns this season, albeit in a shorter length. Informally elegant & a joy to wear & look at, we found ourselves falling head over heels all over again. ...So will you!

GRAM of Sweden

Calling all worn-out soles out there... Gram is coming & we're deeply, deeply excited!!!
Cuz if there's one thin
g we know, them Swedes sure have good taste.

Despite its name, Stockholm label Gram, founded in 2005 by Alexis Holm & Anna Stenvi, brings an approach to footwear that's more whimsical than weighty. The idea was to create shoes that "imitate what you recognise, yet make it impossible to remember what it reminds you of." With a focus on clean lines, new materials, & clever experimentation, Gram offers surprising twists on age-old classics, kicking shoe-making forward without stepping on the toes of comfort or functionality.
Interestingly, all Gram shoes are named after their weight -- "it saves us the chore of coming up with cool-sounding names for all the different models." ...Nice touch.
Whether it's guys be
ing guys or girls who like a tomboy-ish touch, if you're the indie type who likes to look svelte through branding & colour, then these magical kicks, subtly wearable yet nothing short of striking, will definitely help you dress up your denims or tone down a suit. MUST SEE, MUST HAVE.

Sheri Bodell Grommet Dress

Striking a chord between noble restraint (the simple shift cut) & theatrical pathos (allover grommet details), this interesting Sheri Bodell dress is a picture of rock babe chic. ...No additional accessories needed!

ALL SAINTS Men's Shirts

Here's a quiz: Why is All Saints, the street-cool label aimed at the hip & happening, so named?
The answer: All Saints is named after the hip & happening All Saints Road in Notting Hill, the street that also inspired All Saints, the 1990s girl group.
The brand even took out an injunction against the band back in 1999, to stop it from selling clothes with the name. Indeed, managing your brand profile is essential in a copycat market, & Stuart Trevor & Kait Bolongaro, the original founders of All Saints, understood this. From a wholesale company, the husband & wife team built the business into a distinctive retail brand that, even though they are no longer in the picture, still rocks plenty.

With sharp, inventive tailoring, & retro details harking back to the old-school of London street style, these All Saints men's shirts effortlessly embrace everyday chic.

CACHAREL Birds-in-Flight Dress

To say that Cacharel's SS2009 collection (with migrating birds as the central theme) by husband & wife design duo Mark Eley & Wakako Kishimoto is "nice" would be an understatement. The two designers literally blew the cobwebs away & put the brand back on the map, critics & fans say. Sadly, SS2009 also happens to be the last Cacharel
collection designed by the pair. Which means this is your last chance to get your hands on the unashamely pretty yet totally wearble pieces created by Eley Kishimoto for Cacharel.
A great reproduction of 60s-style daywear, the enchanting cut & whimsical birds-in-flight print on this dress really bring a sense of romance, the beach, and the calming breeze -- no matter where you are, or how stressed out you may be.

Cacharel is the name of a graceful little bird (or a small duck, rather, called garganey) from southern France. Founder-designer Jean Bousquet must have thought the name perfect when he chose it for his trademark early in the 60s. 50 years later, birds remain a charm dear to Cacharel & you will not fail to notice bird motif on many of Cacharel's designs -- from ready-to-wear to jewellery & lingerie.

*Also available: Cacharel birds-in-flight blouse.

Ohh la la, it's so official! The one-shoulder frock is THE hot ticket of the season, and we're in absolute love with this one from Mint Jodi Arnold.
This winsome dress is so adorable, you can count on it to not hang around on the rails for long!
Rather than the usual strap, this interesting design incorporates a youthful little sleeve.
Pair it with a light jacket/cardigan to render it work-friendly; or anchor it with ballet flats/espadrilles/heely sandals & you're all set to charm the bejeezus out of the boyfriend!
Comes in electric orchid (bold & sweet, yet not over the top), black, white.

Sheri Bodell Studded Tunic

First, Michelle Obama rocked the fashion world with her one-shoulder inaugural gown. Then the trend started lighting up all the red carpets -- as anyone who caught the Golden Globes & Oscars a while back would have noticed. In a unique one-shoulder meets off-the-shoulder silhouette, this striking studded tunic/mini dress by Sheri Bodell will make all your parties a little more edgy. Although it covers more skin than your traditional strapless frock, the single barer shoulder creates a sexier allure. And no matter your body type or personal style, the angled look works for just everyone.

Zadig et Voltaire 'Road' Romantic Cotton Dress with Eyelet Embroidery

Here's a lowdown on Zadig et Voltaire -- a cult-favourite that remains surprisingly unknown in the USA or even UK, let alone around these parts:
WHAT - A Parisian label founded in 1997 by Thierry Gillier, whose family owns one of France's largest knitwear companies & whose father Andre Gillier co-founded Lacoste.
STYLE - Edgy yet soft, arty & behemian -- much like its stylish fans, Charlotte Gainsbourg & Chloe Sevigny. But the really great thing about Zadig & Voltaire, are the tiny unmistakable rock-n-roll touches amongst the classism: a stud here, an embroidery there.
TRIVIA -
• Enlightenment philosopher Voltaire & his famous 1747 novel "Zadig, ou la Destinee" ("Zadig, or The Book of Fate") likely provided the inspiration for the brand name. (If you fancy it, you can read the entire text of the book, for free, here!)
• Cecelia Sarkozy was wearing a pair of white Zadig et Voltaire pants on election victory night when (now ex-)husband Nicolas Sarkozy won the French presidency.
• Actress Fuschia Kate Sumner, also known as Sting's daughter, is the brand's ambassador.

The Zadig et Voltaire 'Road' romantic cotton dress with eyelet embroidery is also available in other colours. In store now.
