TIBI (NYC) Chantal Lace Dress

When you have Emma Watson, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Blake Lively, the fearless ADR, and countless other starry names all selecting sexy black lace for their very recent red-carpet events, it would be difficult to imagine a more obvious demonstration of favour and vogue.
Indeed, a byproduct of the prevailing gothic trend, black lace is definitely one of the most important looks of the season. Whether completely covering a dress or placed as strategic panels, black lace says flirty and feminine like nothing else quite can.
With delicate scallop-edged sleeves and a silhouette-skimming bodice, this vampish yet cute dress from Tibi is a lace-tastic update on the perennially chic LBD. Go for a romantic look with strappy heels and a pashmina, or team with killer spiked heel boots and a lashing of red lippy!
(RRP US$405)

Black lace has clearly been the top embellishment choice for celebrities this season.

TIBI
Amy Smilovic started Tibi in 1997 when her husband was transferred to Hong Kong. She had a choice -- report to her husband at American Express, or start her own business. She chose the latter. Her small collection, heavily influenced by her international travels, quickly emerged into a complete line of women’s wear through word of mouth amongst the ex-pat community and a large overseas order placed through Saks Fifth Avenue. Smilovic’s switch from a business executive to fashion designer was a natural one considering she used to be with Ogilvy & Mather advertising, she studied both business and art in college, and she is a dynamic illustrator. Tibi fashions are now found in over hundreds of upscale stores around the world including Saks, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Harvey Nichols and Harrods.

under.ligne by doo.ri Ponte Jersey Dress with Silk Panel

under.ligne by doo.ri is the new line from Doo-Ri Chung, the celebrated Korean-American designer. A “second act” it may be, but under.ligne doesn't skimp on the brilliance (draping wizardry, couture techniques) Chung is famous for. Instead, it offers up the goodies in a darker version of what’s typically shown on doo.ri.
Soft, sexy, and perfect for a day or an evening of slummin' it, this ponte jersey dress with a printed silk panel from under.ligne is a satisfying balance between hard and sensual.

PAUL & JOE SISTER "Sainmalo" Dress

Simple, classic, and cheerful, the Sainmalo* dress from Paul & Joe Sister -- the offspring of Parisian designer Sophie Albou's coveted Paul & Joe line -- is ideal for folding up in your vacation suitcase, and will also dress up well under a jacket for smarter work dos.
(Notes: *The dress is likely named after Saint Malo, a port city and the most visited place in the historical province of Brittany, northwestern of France, where
the marinière or Breton stripe originated. More below.)

If there is one trend that’s coming up huge, it must surely be the nautical influence.
Sailor stripes always tend to show up in Spring-Summer styles, you may say. However, this year the focus is on the pattern first popularised by Coco Chanel, also known as the marinière or Breton stripe. (It all kind of started when the Audrey Tatou starrer "Coco Avant Chanel" debuted last year.)
"la marinière" was first brought to the fashion world by Coco Chanel back in the 20s after she noticed French fishermen's striped attire.
Since then, gamine fashion icon Audrey Hepburn and sex kitten Bridget Bardot have shown how the look can be elegant, modern and sexy, whatever the era.

There's simply no escaping stripes this season. They're popping up ALL OVER in Celebville, too, and we have the evidence :-)
