If you are distinguishing between clothing and high fashion, between the stuff we wear and the ideas that challenge us, California-born, Paris-based designer Rick Owens aka "The Prince of Dark Design" surely belongs on the renegade edge of fashion. Goth-inflected silhouettes, alienesque palette, transgender shapes… Owens' sensibilities are almost unlike anything else. Even if you don't particularly appreciate his severe, austere, sunglass-wearing-monks-from-the-future aesthetic, you'd be hard-pressed not to recognise his skills.
