Have a happy Year of the Ox, dear friends! Thank y'all so much for EVERYTHING & we love y'all very very very very very much!
Mooooo!

Supra Footwear & Supra NS

Within the incredibly short span of time since its 2005 inception, Supra Footwear has burst into the forefront of the sneaker world, generating insane amounts of hype. All through last year, Supra has been spotted on the biggest names in the action sports industry & practically everyone of note in the music universe. The label didn't exactly rise out of nowhere, though. The brand's elusive founder, Angel Cabada, has had great success building up KR3W, a skateboard apparel cum denim label & sister company to Supra. With the breakthrough of KR3W, Cabada decided to apply the same winning formula of quality & innovation to create a shoe line that complements the KR3W clothing. He chose the name 'Supra' reputedly because the Latin word stands for "above & beyond" -- judging by the reception to the brand, that certainly looks like where Cabada is headed.
In 2008, Cabada launched an extension to the original footwear line called Supra NS (Non-Skate), which focuses on the use of premium materials & innovative cuts in the design & construction process. Despite the name, Cabada says you could still actually skate in a pair of NS; they're just a little more forward, yet free of "throw-up" colours.
Highly sought after, these are truly the No.1 shoes on the block these days! Get a pair, now. Heck, get two!

TRINA TURK Flutter Sleeve Bonita Dress

Taught to sew by her Japanese mother at the age of 11, California native Trina Turk has transformed her childhood passion into a fashion following.
For her Spring 2009 collection, Turk drew upon the beach & islands. The result: Fresh, modern & easy-to-wear styles in eye-popping colours that embody the tropical splendour & beauty of the coastal lifestyle.
Flush with recent investments from a private equity firm, Turk is among the few designers who have thriving plans. In addition to new store openings & a new line of outdoor upholstery fabrics, a wholesale men's line (a sub-brand aptly named Mr. Turk) & beachy items like sunglasses & swimwear are also in the works.
Shown: Flutter Sleeve Bonita Dress made of backgammon lace. Also available in Lemon (yellow).

ELVIS JESUS

With an intense name like Elvis Jesus, this brand had better be special -- and it is. Focusing on attention-grabbing clothing with wild depictions of the King of Rock & the Son of God, UK-based Elvis Jesus, founded by the dread-locked fashion maverick David Mallon, is fast becoming one of Europe's flashiest labels. With men's tees artfully festooned with Swarovski crystals, images of Elvis mimicking the Rushmore poster, or Jesus riding a motorcycle a la Easy Rider (that sell out as soon as they hit the floor in upscale retailers like Harvey Nichols), the line definitely isn't for shrinking violets. But if you think you have an inky sense of humour, a taste for the spotlight, & are not easily offended by blasphemy, then Elvis Jesus could just be your thing.
(Elvis Jesus runs rather small, please go up at least one size.)

ADAM Resort 2009

With a career shaped under the tutory of classics masters Ralph Lauren & most notably Oscar de la Renta (where he became the youngest person ever to hold the position of creative director for a leading international fashion house), Adam Lippes is the one to watch -- the quintessential rising star of American design.
Lippes started Adam+Eve in 2004 with his mentor's blessing -- de la Renta even invested in the new company. In 2006, the casual-luxe T-shirt & basics line got a huge boost when Oprah, a fan, tapped Lippes for the Couch of Destiny, thus making him almost-famous, almost overnight. Following his appearance on Oprah, the label's website logged 50,000 hits & had to be temporarily shut down for 12 hours. Funnily enough, Lippes also started getting complaints about the brand name. Apparently when web users tried to search for his brand, they kept getting led to a chain of sex shops! So that his creations don't end up being confused with clothing of a more sinister nature, Lippes has engaged in trail separation & his label is now simply 'Adam'.
With quality fabrics, fluid movement, & sophisticated looks that stay great while you're on the go, Adam clothing has found fast friends amongst fashionistas & industry buyers alike.
Looks like Adam Lippes truly deserved the benediction he got from Queen Oprah :)

Catherine Malandrino Ruffle Sleeves Dress

Fortunate is the gal who can carry off this gorgeous dress!
Made to fit your shape like a glove, this Catherine Malandrino creation brings a dramatic flair to the cocktail dress. The deep U-neck, ruffled shoulders & striking colour all come together for a stunning finish, giving you a long, lean & lethally sexy look. Get this in your closet -- it's a great alternative to the LBD!

Isabel Marant Printed Top & Dress

Slightly slouchy, kinda edgy, a whole lot wearable, with great prints that hit just the right note -- those are the unmissable touches of Isabel Marant, one of the hottest yet still somewhat low-profile independent designers of the last 15 years.
A daughter of German designer Christa Fiedler, French-born Marant studied design at Studio Bercot in Paris before creating her own jewellery line. She then went on to work with various parties including Yorke & Cole, Marc Ascoli, Michel Klein, Chloe, Yohji Yamamoto, Martine Sitbon, & even her mother. Finally striking out on her own in 1994, Marant's debut collection on the Paris runway a year later won notice at once. Her first order came from Japan, & for some time she remained more known abroad than at home.
Today though, you'd be hard pressed to find a stylish young Parisian or Tinseltown best-dresser who doesn't own at least a few Isabel Marant pieces in her wardrobe. Marant's Spring '08 presentation was also one of the only 10 or so shows that Kanye West checked out as research for his own upcoming line.
This print series by Marant draws the same kind of must-have impulse as the designs of top-name labels, but at considerably less cost & exposure. (Yes, that's Isla Fisher, looking awesome in her casual-chic Isabel Marant top, playing with baby Borat.)

Tie-Shoulder Top by Alice + Olivia

Sweet & sexy is how you'll look & feel in this Alice + Olivia top.
Slenderising double V-neckline & the adorable baby doll style aside, practical straps tie at the shoulder so that you can make this the perfect length every time.
The saccharine paint strokes print inspires love & peace with its organic '70s carefree hippie feel.
Great with darkstone washed denim or white capris/pants/mini-skirts. Extremely cute for clubbing or a night out, too.

Susana Monaco Hydrangea Strings Dress

Known more for her simple yet stylish supplex fabrics clothing, Susana Monaco blew fans off their feet & probably gained many converts with an amazing, evolved Resort Early Spring 2009 collection. Born into an Italian-American family entrenched in tailoring & clothing manufacturing, Monaco got her start crafting tissue paper outfits for her brother's G.I. Joe figurines. After studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology, Monaco debuted her namesake label in 1996 & soon found a dedicated fanbase among Hollywood starlets with her fashionable take on the practical day dress in particular. Project Runway fans may be familiar with Monaco's cousin, Kevin Christiana.
Let your style flow in this romantic-meets-modern Susana Monaco dress featuring feminine hydrangea prints, adjustable spaghetti straps, side slit pockets, & an empire silhouette that draws the eye to the narrowest part of the body.
