EMMA COOK (London) Printed Silk Shirtdress

A busy schedule demands pieces that easily transition between daily commitments, and this printed silk shirtdress from inspirational British designer Emma Cook works nicely for the office, dinner and elsewhere.
Like most of her printed works, Cook started by designing the pattern on this dress first and the silhouette afterwards, making sure that the print sits on the body exactly where she wants it.
Complement the sophisticated hues on this piece with glimmering gold accents, adding wedges, flats or heels depending on the occasion.
(RRP US$599)

EMMA COOK
Manchester-born Emma Cook is one of London fashion’s brightest rising stars. An M.A. holder from Central Saint Martins, Cook interned with Donna Karan in New York and Martine Sitbon in Paris before setting up her own label in 2001. While her silhouettes are often kept relatively simple (and therefore easy to wear), Cook’s undeniable strength is her distinctive print design, her implementation of new-found print techniques, and the seamless way they intergrate with the shape of the garments.

The shirtdress trend took to the runway and streets this season in countless variations. The look is super-versatile and can conform to many different style aesthetics from retro to laid-back, boho to sophisticated.
