ELIZABETH AND JAMES (New York) Colourblock Heels

Founded by entrepreneurial power twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Elizabeth and James is the go-to label of the coolest ladies in fashion. Their footwear, like this pair spliced with a flash of metallic (for day-to-night versatility) and a bold wooden heel, is no different.
Wear them as the centrepiece of your look with jeans —perfect for stylish lunch dates in the city— or team with a simple dress for evening chic.
(RRP US$295)

Colourblocking is too popular a trend to relinquish just yet: the dynamic trend is big on SS13 runways.

ALICE BY TEMPERLEY (London) Ruched Silk Dress

Royal College of Art and Central St Martins alumnus Alice Temperley took her place among fashion’s powerhouses when she launched her namesake label in 2000. The Temperley London collection has since developed a strong reputation for its focus on exquisite fabrics and intricate hand-finishes, with style-setters regularly walking the red carpet in eye-catching Temperley creations.
In 2010, following up on the success of her pret-a-porter line (which now has flagships in New York, London and Los Angeles), the designer introduced ‘ALICE by Temperley’, a delightfully flirtatious bridge line aimed at the younger demographic.

Featuring a coy cowl neck and ruching detail, this little number from ALICE by Temperley will add a subtle shimmer to your after-dark look. Simply add killer heels for the perfect pairing!
Made of hammered silk, with a pebbled texture that reflects light beautifully.
(RRP £245 / US$395)

Alice Temperley is riding a serious wave of worldwide popularity right now - thanks in part to the loyalty of two rather well-known British sisters we know as Kate and Pippa Middleton.

BCBG MAX AZRIA Metallic Shorts

Scintillating fabric lends youthful, eye-catching glamour to these BCBGMaxAzria shorts. Think of this event-appropriate piece as a fun alternative to a tailored skirt or trouser - picture it paired with haute heels, and any of these three: a luxe tank, a bold blazer, or a chambray button-down. And bits of silver jewellery, too :-)

This season, on and off the runway, metallic shorts make a hot and sexy summertime item.

TORY BURCH Metallic Hobo

At the fashion shows of 2011, designers granted us a rich and blissful visual experience thanks to the generous use of metallic shades. While traditionally more associated with Fall/Winter fashions, gold, silver, as well as the endless shades of these base tones have been employed to decorate the various Spring/Summer clothing and accessories.
This metallic hobo from Tory Burch (“the most copied designer in America,” according to The Los Angeles Times) is an elegant example of how to do the metallic trend right. A nice-size bag with grand glamour and flirty (detachable) tassel detail, this hobo is a real eye-catcher and just the ticket for any kind of outing, be it work-related, or an afternoon with friends.
(RRP US$395)

This season, apparel and accessories of all sorts -and even make-up- get amped up with heavy metal, on and off the runway.

Kanye West missed out on music’s biggest night --the Grammys, that is, on just this past Sunday (13 Feb), where, incidentally, the metallic trend hit a high note -- in favour of attending the NYFW, including bestie Tory Burch’s presentation.
