UNDER.LIGNE BY DOO.RI
Doo-Ri Chung started crafting a clothing line for women in the basement of her parents' dry-cleaning business. By 2006, she had won the CFDA emerging talent award for women’s wear. Since then, Chung, who is known for creating elegant pieces in draping jersey, has kept a low profile -- she has no standalone boutiques, instead sells her signature collection (Doo.Ri.) in high-end stores such as Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, and Harvey Nichols in Hong Kong. Two years ago, Chung finally launched a second line called under.ligne (pronounced "Under Line"). In just a year, 150 under.ligne outlets have opened around the world, and the line has become more profitable than Chung's main collection and is now her company’s primary source of growth.
