SHERI BODELL 'Deco Print' Dresses
Art Deco is making a sleeper comeback & it isn't confined to building restoration. Taking influence from the clean lines & distinctive geometric patterns of the period, Sheri Bodell's 'deco print' dresses from her Spring 2009 collection are giving retro style lovers a great new statement.
We love how the bold yet elegant graphics lend a vintage sensibility to the relaxed silhouettes. The rich, graceful look evokes the imaging & styling of sensuous Japanese kimonos.
Dark metallic studs further enhance the edgy allure.
In store now.

3.1 Phillip Lim Tiered Fold Skirt
MANDARINA DUCK Stitch Wallet
When Mandarina Duck (now part of the Antichi Pellettieri Group) was founded in Italy in 1977, it immediately turned heads in the traditional leather/luggage market with its innovative designs. The mandarin duck, from which the brand takes its name, lives in eastern Asia & is thought to be monogamous, and therefore a common symbol of fidelity in Chinese lore & Oriental art. With its brightly coloured, waterproof plumage & tenacity to embark on long migratory journeys, the little bird really mirrors the values of the brand: colourful, dependable, and with an attitude towards travel.
'Stitch' by Mandarina Duck is a line created for young male professionals with a modern style. The Stitch wallet is made of full grain pigmented retouched cowhide. A central leather body & sleek & tough nylon walls give structure to the wallet.

SHOSHANNA Strapless Bubble Dress
Before there was Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss the fashion maven, there was Shoshanna, the (in)famous, wealthy teenage girlfriend of comedian Jerry Seinfeld. Perhaps her celebrity helped her to the front of the queue, Shoshanna's very first collection landed her a US$30,000 order with Bloomingdale’s. That was 1998. Today, A-list fashion stores and showbiz stars call from all over to place their requests for Shoshanna designs. Known for their sexy cuts & colourful schemes, Shoshanna clothing are said to be designed with great appreciation towards ‘real women with curves', as opposed to stick-thin ladies. Interestingly, the designer credits some of her success to the fact that she doesn’t have a traditional fashion background, freeing her to do things differently.
From the Spring 2009 collection, the fun & flirty Shoshanna strapless bubble dress is nearly sold out on major online shopping sites!
Available in various colours.

Enriched by ruches down the front, this soft & stretchy dress gives a sophisticated punk rock look for any occasion.

NEW ARRIVALS - Saturday, 14 Feb
Happy Valentine's Day!
Rock & Republic 'Bogart' Coat
From a reputation forged on the battlefield, the trench coat has found itself taken up by all manner of heroes -- from the many characters in Frank Miller's Sin City to Mulder & Scully in The X Files; from the stars of The Matrix to The Pink Panther. In particular, Humphrey Bogart became associated with the trench, which he wore in a number of films, none more famously than Casablanca (1942). This swanky, beautifully detailed coat with a slimming cut from Rock & Republic may be a different beast than the traditional trench, but it's definitely a timeless key piece for a stylish tough guy's wardrobe, with the ability to take one from season to season.

EVER Uruguay Jacket
Wearing sloppy, wrinkled clothes when travelling sucks -- but so does ironing while on vacation. Jason Bleick knows this & infused an easy-wear, easy-care quality into his fashion line, Ever. Bleick created the travel-inspired Ever after 8 years of globetrotting as the VP of Design for Quicksilver. Also, having worked for his dad who owned sewing factories that supplied clothing to the U.S. military, Bleick understood that quality & construction cannot be compromised. The impact of these earlier years remains apparent in the designer's continued choice for premium materials & innovative methods of processing for his garments. Since its 2003 launch, Ever has proven its staying power, with its pieces regularly spotted on stylish celebrities like Brad Pitt.
With an incredibly soft nylon shell & a super-cosy cotton jersey lining (that feels like an old bedtime sweatshirt!), the Ever Uruguay Jacket is classic yet grungy & unbelievably comfortable. On top of this, you get a roll-away concealed hood built into the collar.

CALYPSO Akela Paradise Dress
Hailing from Cannes, the city of sun & festivals, Christiane Celle was previously a stylist who travelled the world for fashion shoots alongside top photographers. In 1992, while on vacation on the island of St. Barthelemy (an overseas collectivity of France in the West Indies, also known as Saint Barth in French or St. Barts in English), Celle noticed that the chic island, long a playground for the rich & famous, only had either upscale boutiques or tacky tourists shops. So upon spotting a vacant 300 sq. ft. space (next to Hermes, no less), Celle impulsively decided to jump into the retail biz. With bohemian offerings gathered from exotic destinations like India & Africa as well as her own colourful designs, Celle's first Calypso store soon found success with affluent island-seekers. In the decade & a half that followed, Celle & her husband Antoine Verglas have led Calypso's expansion into an international luxury retail chain with stores in over 30 locations across the USA & France, which still offers a mix of Celle's private labels & high-end outside brands. In 2007, the couple sold a majority interest in their company to a private equity investment firm. Under current design director Elisa Miller (formerly of Coach & J. Crew), Calypso continues to mesmerise fans with cheery, feminine & skillfully designed clothes that immerse one in the sunshine mood of the French Riviera -- far from the darker, urban look of most Parisian brands.
(Celle, meanwhile, has turned her attention to photography & art with a new venture: Clic Bookstore & Gallery.)
